I reckon a grinder is better. ;)

1426810 2016-10-04 14:16:00 1101 . . . . . . . .

I built a couple of sleds that hold the blades at the correct angle . These run or slide on a flat sheet of thick glass that I found in a hardware surplus store .

On the glass I use mineral (baby) oil to hold down sheets of extremely fine wet/dry sandpaper . The paper is 1000#, 2000#, 3500# -- the latter for a surgical edge to my blades if I need to go that far .

I have a couple of Arkansas Stones for whetting, but rarely use them any more as glass is much flatter . When I DO use the stones, I pour and soak them in mineral spirits (enamel paint thinner) to lift the chips and slurry out of the stone pores .

Mineral spirits will totally evaporate out of the stones between use, so there's no slimy, oily goo all over them next time I use them .

Ya had me with ya gov . . . . till you went all Ford on me .

I really shouldn't complain though, Fords put shoes on my kid's feet, supper on the table and a roof over our collective heads .

Then there was anything built by Audi, Mercedes, Volvo, The Rootes Gp, BuMW, Chrysler and/or Fiat too . Those were my steak and lobster repairs .

1426814 2016-10-05 05:31:00 I had Farina for breakfast yesterday. Hot, with milk and sugar - yummy! SurferJoe46 (51)

Whole-grain oats porridge, with yogurt and a little brown sugar here.
As you may know the farina in that Austins' name referred to the Italian designer Pininfarina

Looks a bit dated now, but so do most oldies.
