In theory if you refuse to have any Microsoft software calling home, there will NO MORE complaints about Windows updates breaking things, no more "spying" :tui: -- CANT update if its not on line. :clap You got it at last :clap:clap NO MORE UPDATES! :clap I don't believe it was this hard getting through to you. Now from Memory the Laptop Has windows 10, AND its your wife's -- A while back you said your life's not worth it to remove windows on her computer. So are you now saying you are going to stop your wife going on the internet ? If you do then I can see that not ending very well for you :groan:. Because going on the internet = Downloading updates automatically. So as I mentioned there's no more reasons for you to moan about updates - Yeah like that will happen. AND I'll gladly remind you when you complain about it that yet again your lack of memory and what you wrote.	wainuitech (129)

Fear not Wainui, all the computers will have access to the Internet but not via Windows . :) At the moment my Win 7 Desktop is working good again, but in conjunction with Linux Mint which handles all Internet traffic and courtesy of wine runs other Windows designed programmes put out by other software companies . My other Desktop is happily running Kubuntu for all Internet traffic and also along with wine other Windows based programmes . Now this leaves me with the two laptops, so what I intend to do is clone the drives and install on small usb drives and then install either Mint or Kubuntu on them as the main Operating System . In fact I might even partition the existing Hard Drives as there is a ton of room on both . Anyway, ultimately Windows will be isolated from the Internet so there will be no updates or calling home . :clap As for my Wife’s computer and your concern about her not letting me touch it, I don’t know where you got that idea from? Maybe you would be good enough to direct me to the post . So you see it is not very difficult to isolate Windows and all its associated Spyware from the Internet, whilst still retaining a working system . One mate who I suggested changing to Mint too is so appreciative that he keeps visiting to tell me how good it is and shows his appreciation by doing quality control on the contents of my cocktail cabinet . Your Linux Thread, page 42 Post Number 414 So you see in SWMBO’s case her ASUS laptop, which came with Win7 installed, worked perfectly until upgrading to Windows 10. It’s more than my life’s worth to touch it and I’ve never had need to until now. And while on the subject -- You made a statement same thread, page 46 Post 459, you stated Well you've written page, after page, after page, of all the adjustments and modifications you have personally made, so you don't think they may have had a bearing YOU still haven't answered it, so WHY NOT, I can tell you why, the only posts I made claiming to alter the settings was 1 Post, and that install had been wiped long and completely reinstalled again before it craped out again. So where are all these other posts ?? Now Then--- as for your windows update woes and all your complaints - Care to make a wager ? Lets say $10 to lifeflight trust /Westpac Helicopter if you lose and vise versa if I lose, with a screen shot of payment ( personal details blanked out of course) ?
