| 1428313 | 2016-11-03 22:24:00 | I have a friend whose Windows 10 won't complete its anniv update. Sticks on 71%. It's done this three times now and even after leaving it all night he just had to shut it down with the power button every time. I have found a supposed fix from this site which I would like opinion on. www.redmondpie.com The ones from Microsoft look a lot more complicated, or maybe it's the way they're worded, I don't know, but the above one I can handle ok I think. Different causes on different PC's : all you can do is work your way through it , trying different 'fixes' You can try installing using the latest Win10 ISO (download from MS) & run it from windows . or try running the update from the link below support.microsoft.com Last one I fixed , I had to uninstall AV & remove the card reader . After that it went straight through (I suspect it was the card reader) |

| 1428315 | 2016-11-03 23:20:00 | As 1101 posted, can be many causes . Often though its something simple, just a case of finding out what . Sometimes ya just gotta be there and can see the problem right away . Sometimes the Antivirus ( as mentioned) can cause problems, and one that's a real "gotya" Remove all USB devices with the exception of a USB KB & mouse . Had one person a while back, it got stuck about 1/2 way through sat like that for hours, when I walked in, removed the USB hub, and away it went almost instantly, had a cuppa, a chat and when it had finished tweaked the update to work better . :) |

| 1428316 | 2016-11-04 03:14:00 | Just doing a bit of looking, adding to my post above, There was a MS rep once in the insider program provide a detailed list of what gets installed /happens at certain percentages ( but do you think I can find the post) :( Anyway, many people have found that at 71% or there abouts thats when the network drivers go in, so if there is an external wireless adaptor its drivers could be a problem, remove it first ( hence USB as above) if its ethernet connected unplug that as well. If it still fails you may have to remove the network drivers including the wireless usb if using one and install Via a DVD, the drivers will reinstall automatically. |
