685953 2008-07-07 05:23:00 Dscaler might do it Agent_24 (57)
685954 2008-07-07 13:17:00 Hi,

I use a quirky (but free) TV card PVR program called "K!TV" with my old TView2000 card. It does the job, has a scheduler you can set up to record TV programs just like a VCR. It's actually quite full featured, but because it's French some of the error messages and dialog boxes here and there are in French (but most of the interface is English). It took me quite a while to get it all working and I can record programs using Xvid for compression with some success. Though you do need a powerful PC to do this in realtime (recent Core2-Duo recommended). If you have absolutely acres of hard drive space you can record uncompressed and then do a 2-pass Xvid or DivX compression which gives much better quality with less CPU grunt.

You can download K!TV from here: http://www.kastortv.org/

685957 2008-07-07 20:24:00 Try "SNAGIT". Not free, but a months free trial is allowed JJJJJ (528)
685958 2008-07-07 21:16:00 What is it you are trying to record?
Analogue TV, Satellite Freeview TV, Freeview UHF, or recording from another device?

IF You are recording TV programs then Win98 would not cut it to record an hour long program as it can only see Fat32, a 1 hr TV program would probably be more than that thus blow the 2Gb limit that Fat32 has as opposed to NTFS.

685959 2008-07-08 05:31:00 I don't think my card was detected (correctly at least) by K!TV either. I had to tune it all in manually. Did you try that? With K!TV running try going to Setup, Source Setup and experiment with the Card Model choices there. Mine works fine with-- Card Model: "Askey/Typhoon/Anubis Magic TView CPH051/06" Tuner Type: Manual Tuner. I had to tune all the channels in manually also; but it does work (just takes a while to get there). :)

There are several FlyVideo models in the Card Model list. Did you try those? You may still have to tune the channels manually in any case.

fat32 does more than 2 gig mate (even fat16 can do a maximum of 4 gig), that and i have a few 4 gig Hdds,
btw its an analouge TV card

all K!TV comes up with is the splash screen on startup and displays no source found for a fraction of a second, hence cant do anything in the interface as you mentioned
