685897 2008-07-07 00:28:00 The computer won't boot al of a sudden! It goes until it says Boot from Cd-Rom, I can not even get to the F8 screen. I have tried putting windows cd in but with the repair option it gets stuck with put in administration password, wich I dont have.

I have tried changing the BIOS that the pc needs to start up with the hard drive but even that does not work.

Am desperate because I have had many pc problems from the word go lately!
Any help appreciated, cheers guys

685898 2008-07-07 00:57:00 The default Administrator password for XP home is left blank, there is no password unless someone created one, try booting again from the CD, this time when it gets to administrator Pass Word, simply hit <Enter>

IF it loads past that once in the recovery console, try typing in chkdsk <Enter>

685902 2008-07-07 01:55:00 I have disconnected the 2 cd rom drives, the boot is now stuck on "verifying DMI Pool Data" mark1978 (13845)
685903 2008-07-07 02:18:00 I fixed it, I found this website: www.webtree.ca
How to Repair the Boot Sector:
If XP won't start it may be due to a damaged boot sector or a missing or corrupt ntldr or ntdetect.com files.

To replace damaged ntldr and ntdetect.com you can copy fresh files from the XP CD using the COPY command. Boot with the XP CD and enter the Recovery Console (as above). At the Command Prompt type the following (where "X" is your CD-Rom drive letter) allowing the files to overwrite the old files
COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C:
COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:

To repair a damaged Boot Sector at the command prompt type FIXBOOT and press Enter. Then answer "Y"

685904 2008-07-07 03:57:00 Many things can stop Windows from booting its a case of process of elimination, usually unless yo get a specific error message like "NTLDR not found", then chkdsk is one of the first fixes you can try.

Good to see its going - thanks for advising.
