| 685870 | 2008-07-06 22:57:00 | Hi all Dell 2400. XP Home. In a previous thread I uninstalled ubantu and lost XP due to the resulting boot problem. Reinstalled windows(x4 to try to overcome the problems below) Install went ok BUT...... when I finished the install I found several things not working. Display is on VGA and will not change. Unable to access network as network adapter not loaded. No sound. Maybe others I havn't noticed yet. Got Network going. The driver i downloaded had its own install program and found my network card. Looked in device manager. Monitor not listed Other devices all with yellow ? next to them Multimedia Audio Controller PCI Simple communications controller SM Bus controller Video Controller(VGA Compatable) Check BIOS for PNP. Nothing found so assume it is on by default. Checked in msconfig. upnp showed as being stopped. System was working sweet before. Releoaded windows a few montha ago without a hitch. USB works as can see and access memory stick Any help greatfully accepted. Cheers Colin |
