Ok,exchange is that were the ISP is based?Like you want to get an ISP that is based in the same city as you are as that would make it better then one based in another city speed wise?:o :) 2. :thanks for the list of good ISP's I am checking them out.Cheers!!! 3. Could you tell me which ISP and plan you are on as well,do you like it,thank you. |

| 685651 | 2008-07-06 06:08:00 | 1. The exchange is not necessarily the city its based in. Its that near each area zone thing, there is a building that houses all the telephone cables. If this thing is too far from your house, then you get crap speeds even if ADSL is advertised at 7.6Mbit. As for the locations of it, you can search the web,Telecom does not release these information out :D 3. I like Xnet because, all ADSL are via Telecom anyway. Not sure for those unbundled how they are like but they are still probably dependent on the locations of those exchanges. I like Xnet because no contracts to sign, no connection fee, there is no fixed amount to pay each month, for example for some ISPs if you bought 10GB and if you don't use that up, its not refunded nor is it credited to your next month, you simply just lose out. Xnet for example you choose the price for the speed package and then you pay $1 per GB, so if you used 10GB you pay $10, if the next mont you used 7GB you just pay $7. You can also change the plan on a day basis, like if today you are on a budget 256k plan and next week you have some downloads to make, you can change it to a full speed plan and then after a day or two change it back. But you might need to check if there are fees to do this more than once a month. They also don't make you sign your toll calls to them as well and if not they bill you kinda thing. There might be other reasons too, but those are the main ones that affect me. If paying via direct debit you also get a small discount on your bills. Hope this helps. |
