Recently it seems at times people online are more caring than offline in real life.

But then often we are seeing some people as how they want the world to see them....

When you are online, does this reflect how you want to be, how you are or someone totally obscure from the real you?

Do you think you have more or less tolerance of other people on line or offline?

Do you think what you know, find out or learn online helps you become a stronger better person online, or offline?

are you a Dr Jekyle Mr Hyde type personality ?

No offence intended just wonder how many people are a false person to the online world?

Id like to think i am the same online and offline, must ask mets.....LOL

as we all know metla is the proverbial grizzly bear online, but offline he is a sweetie.....:p :D with fluffly slippers....

interested to post?
Lurk or laugh?

yeah well please post, your ideas, thoughts and opinions as long as it is not hurtful to those other pf1 people.

424667 2006-01-27 12:22:00 This is a difficult one.

I have met a few people offline that I met online and none from PressF1 as far as I know.

Those people I did meet seemed pretty much as I expected but there again when meeting at a BBQ it was very much a casual situation. It was unlikely we would meet again in the near future.

I probably have more tolerance of people I meet on a day to day basis rather than people I talk to online.

I do learn by participating and interacting I guess. I don't tolerate some things anyway. That is just me. No matter what the Government says I do in fact discriminate and that is human nature. We all discriminate when we go shopping do we not? Do we want the Government to look at your shopping receipts and say, "You bought a Coke last week so therefore you have to buy a Pepsi this week?" "Your last car was a Ford so now you get a Holden and like it!"

As to a false person to the online world I would prefer to say what I think but you can't here according to the rules which is fair enough. So I think I don't express the real me here.

I might add that it is human nature for most that they want to be loved or at least liked by some.

How many people here have fudged a CV to get a job? You know. Left a few things out that they would rather the prospective Boss did not know about.

Total honesty is not always a good thing anyway.
Wife says, "Do you like my new dress, hairstyle, shoes, horse, dog, cat or anything." You say, "No."
Expect to apologise very soon after if you want a bit of peace in the house.

On that note I will leave with a joke I saw today.

A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled across an old lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it and out popped a genie. The genie said, "OK, OK. You released me from the lamp...yada yada yada!

This is the fourth time this month and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three of them. You only get one wish!" The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but I'm scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?"

The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible. Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete ... how much steel! Do you know how many engineers I would have to hire to figure how to do it? No, think of another wish."

The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women... know how they feel inside and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment... know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say 'nothing'... know how to make them truly happy."

The genie paused for a few minutes and then said, "You want that bridge with two lanes or four?"

Not quite, The people I'm easy on here I would treat the same way in real world situations, The people I am harsh to here I would just to tell **** up and p-off in the real world.

424669 2006-01-27 18:59:00 Yep, I''m the same. I don't stand for rudeness or put-downs or idiots here or in the real world, but then my work allows me to tell people how it is (that's what makes me 'good' at what I do).

It's more 'give what you get', if you want to be nice that's good, if you want to be an idiot expect to be pulled up for it.

Having said that, I haven't had my 1st caffiene fix for the day so my usual caring, sharing sensitive Jafa nature is not up and running yet. :annoyed:

Hey Metla:

Is there still a cold beer and a comfortable chair there for me when I visit?

What you on about Beetle? You thinking I'm not the real me?! :stare:

Go wash your mouth out right now!

Nope, what you see is what you get . I am no less caring, bossy, nosy, interfering, direct or tactless offline than I am online .

As for tolerance, the people who put up with me have to have the patience of a saint so it would be churlish not to reciprocate, wouldn't it? :p :D
