424216 2006-01-25 21:41:00 Another mind-bender game that can get really frustrating:
www.abc.net.au
To show you finished the game, describe what happens to the bird at the end.

Rule # 1: NO GOOGLING for a walkthrough!!!

424217 2006-01-25 21:53:00 Hilarious, brilliant, haven't finished yet. (Gotta get back to work) mark c (247)
424218 2006-01-25 22:41:00 It's quite a long game, especially as (hint) there's a lot of backtracking.

Forgot to mention - the intro is worth going through.

The game was inspired and designed by a guy who visited the real-life (www.abc.net.au) somewhere in Spain - it makes an interesting read.

424219 2006-01-25 23:52:00 Completed it! Man that was fun. :D

Got stuck in the pipes, so I had to find myself a wee bit of help just for that section :p

Birdie gets a shocking fright at the end ;)

424220 2006-01-26 00:02:00 I got through to the end by cheating and finding a walk through - so I won't spoil the fun and say what happens.

You have to admire the work and ingenuity that has gone into the game, and it is fun to do and watch, but as a problem-solving exercise my reaction was, what is the point? It seems to me that there is no way you are going to get right through to the end except by accident - there is no way to achieve a solution by any sort of logical thinking or inference - there are no clues to point you in the right direction. I prefer games where you don't have to take wild stabs in the dark to ever hope to achieve a result.

Man that was FAST! Took me about 8 hours over three days to complete it! :dogeye:

But yeah, the pipes are the absolute pits to get through.

I kinda think there's a bit more to it than that. First off... it's meant to be a game, more than just a puzzle solving exercise... ie the fun is in solving it. Then, there are some kinda clues, eg a sort of pattern emerges in that you learn from what you've done before, and try adopt it to what you do next. The backtracking is an example, and spotting what the other animals do also gives hints.

But for sure, some elements of random luck do help (a lot!).

424223 2006-01-26 00:20:00 But yeah, the pipes are the absolute pits to get through. In hindsight, I see the clues for the pipes were there all the time if you knew where to look. ;)

Basically you need to investigate everything. The pipe section took by far the longests to complete.

424224 2006-01-26 01:24:00 Ahh! Just completed this (2 hours) with NO cheating.

I see playing Thief helped in problem solving :p
