| 685773 | 2008-11-05 08:25:00 | Avast has something called web shield, which maybe something similar. Not too sure what it does exactly. But it does scan sites or something. BUT it can also slow browsing down. It can also block sites (In the Home and Pro version of Avast, you can also add a password for the settings, so noone can change them) Browsers will also tell you if sites are dodgy (Opera, does, so I found out) It'll tell you onscreen, but you still have an option to go there |

| 685775 | 2008-11-05 19:16:00 | I've picked up on this thread as my annual McAfee sub has expired and I was going to take advantage of Telecom's offer. Telecom support couldn't tell me if their package was the same or similar to what I have - "possibly" or "probably" wasn't the answer I was looking for. I rang McAfee but usual story, bad phone lines, trouble communicating to customer service my reason for calling etc etc. Must be my mood this week, I can't be bothered with hassle, and as I have to uninstall McAfee anyway before installing the Telecom product I thought I'd ditch McAfee and try something else. Advice in this thread seems to be that Avast is ok and would someone please advise what else I need. Thanks Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 - you won't find anything better on the market. NOD32 is good also. |

Stick with the proven stuff you have. If its not broken, don't fix it. McAfee is just slightly above Nortons in my opinion which still leaves it near the bottom. |

They would get better virus protection and save them thousands too. Why do they choose Norton and McAfee over Avast! and AVG when they're better? :confused: |

| 685780 | 2008-11-06 09:43:00 | Most of the time its because " thats what they have always used", along with the fact that advertising of the products - what doesn't help is when you get so called " reviews" that say ??? is the best and caught X number in tests , when in real world usage they are crap. Mind you I wouldn't compare Avast to AVG - Avast is far better than AVG. |
