685469 2008-07-05 22:49:00 Did he change the settings in Desktop right-click/Screensaver/Power? annie (6010)
685470 2008-07-06 01:05:00 When you say it wont turn of, does it close to a screen saying "It is Now Safe to Turn Off Your Computer"
If so, have a look on the Microsoft help & support site, there is an article explaining how to get around that.

685471 2008-07-06 02:30:00 As Annie was saying....

Have you checked the "Power Options" and make sure "APM" is set to on
(check box has a tick)

To get there the way annie suggest's

Right-click an empty bit on the your desktop and select Properties.
Select Screensaver tab and click the "Power" button (bottom right)
The "Power Options" pane will appear, select the "APM" tab.
Make sure the APM checkbox has a tick...

685473 2008-07-06 08:02:00 By any chance do you have any of the following installed on your PC --

Logitech mouse drivers
Adaptec/Roxio software
Zone Alarm

If you do , press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.

Click the Applications tab.
In the Task column, click the program that you want to quit, and then click End Task.
Quit Task Manager.

See if the computer will now shutdown normally

685474 2008-07-06 08:31:00 Just something to check in the BIOS - load the BIOS Screen, move down using the Arrow keys, select Power Management Setup <Enter> make sure ACPI is set to Enabled. Power Management should also be set to User Define.

If it is, then you may also have a faulty Power Supply, I have seen that message on several customers PC's, change the PSU and it shuts down as normal.

What is your PC,- a name brand ( Dell, HP, Compaq or a built up) ?
