| 686099 | 2008-07-08 04:08:00 | If you have been using 8.04 for a while and doing all the updates ( as I have ) you will have at least 3 different Kernels to choose from. What you want to do is to try and get into recovery mode. Does it give you a list of kernels to boot before defaulting to the latest? Usually there will be something like Ubuntu 8.04, kernel 2.6.24-19-generic (recovery mode) in the list as well. See what you can do in recovery mode if you can get that far. The kernel list is found in /boot/grub/menu.lst If youre not seeing this list try running sudo nano /boot/grub/menu.lst set timeout to 10sec or so to give you a list of kernels and recovery options. |
