685403 2008-07-05 05:26:00 I have a compaq presario v3000. With 2.00 gigahertz AMD Turion 64. And 960mb ram. The system has been running slow, Would I see much of an improvement if I added another 1gb of ram? also what kind of ram would it take? The system is running XP. Thanks wills1 (13614)
685404 2008-07-05 05:31:00 XP and 1 gig of RAM (even if shared with the graphics) should be sufficient in most cases.

Do you have many small icons displayed beside the clock (the systray area)? Have you checked for viruses or other malware with a reputable program(s)?

Have you done a disk clean up recently and defragged the hard drive?

685405 2008-07-05 05:34:00 Hey Jen,

Just Email and anti virus beside the clock. I use auslogics speed boost that does the defrag. Have scanned with avast, sbybot. And regularly run ccleaner. Disabled unneeded programs from startup too
