| 687097 | 2008-07-09 21:35:00 | Guess I need a new mobo. Last night a reboot got me an 8E BSOD and since then I can't get the mobo to post. I get 1 long and 2 short beeps which looks like it is indicating a video problem. But with no RAM and no cards installed it still gives the same beep sequence. I thought it would change with no RAM. Looking for a bit of confirmation from you guys who see many more mobo's than me. |

| 687100 | 2008-07-10 03:27:00 | Thanks for replies. Unfortunately, I can't test the RAM stick as I have no other m/c that takes DDR. I took out the vid card and put in a PCI one with same result. As I said earlier, I get the same beeps no matter what is or is not on the board. I will just have to buy a new core2 duo cpu, mobo, and new RAM! |

| 687103 | 2008-07-11 00:39:00 | OK, it's now official - I am going (have gone) mad! Friend's m/c uses the exact DDR400 RAM so I took my 1GB board and put it in his m/c. No go - nothing. Brought his 512MB board and put it into my m/c. Worked!!! But it is here it gets interesting. I went back to his place to swap his RAM back and added it to his 256MB board. His system fired up. Got home to realise that I had put my 'crook' board into his system. It is working, as well, as he now has 1.2GB running! So, now my m/c is running with his 512MB and his with 1.2GB while I contemplate what to do next. Grrrrr!!! | linw (53) | ||
