686523 2008-07-08 08:22:00 Is there any free utility counter that can be used to count the number of times a print command is sent to my MFC. I wish to count the number of pages printed of a period of time. Counting the paper in machine does not work as frequently paper is re-inserted. Slim (4633)
686524 2008-07-08 08:42:00 Have you checked the manual for your printer to see if it already has an option to do a page printed count? Jen (38)
686525 2008-07-08 09:06:00 Good thought Jen. Just checked manual, nothing there. Epson CX8300. Slim (4633)
686526 2008-07-08 09:18:00 A bit rough & ready ... but my printer logs an event to the System Log every time I print.
eg.

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Print
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10
Date: 6/07/2008
Time: 8:50:41 p.m.
User: ...
Computer: ...
Description:
Document 3, Book1 owned by ... was printed on Brother HL-2040 series via port USB001. Size in bytes: 732736; pages printed: 1
...

What you could then do is set up a filter on the event log for your date/time range, and filter it on "Event Source = Print", "Event ID = 10"

Make sense?

686527 2008-07-08 10:23:00 My CX8300 Epson does not appear to have a system log. Slim (4633)
686528 2008-07-08 11:25:00 The system log is part of the OS. For XP you can find this by going Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > System. Jen (38)
686529 2008-07-08 23:21:00 Thanks Jen.

Events are coded in numbers. Appears to be Error logs only in Event veiwer.

System is XP SP3

686530 2008-07-09 02:17:00 Ok, sounds like you may not have print information logging enabled.

Follow the instructions in this article:
www.microsoft.com

Then try the System event log filtering technique in my other post to just show the print events for your desired date range.
