| 686172 | 2008-07-07 20:38:00 | My friend has a HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop with Vista. She has a wireless network set up through an ADSL Dynalink modem feeding a Netgear wireless router. The wireless connection works just fine until the lid is closed and the lappie is put into sleep mode. When it is woken up it will say it is connected but the browser (IE) won't find any pages and times out. The wireless adapter is a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. The drivers are up to date. My iPod Touch has no problems connecting to the wireless network in the house. I'd appreciate any ideas - the lappie is leased so I don't want to fiddle too much... |

This happens if it is on standby or hibernate and the lease expires during that period. The lease renews on boot up. I find that if I shut down completely every 12 hours, there is not a problem. Windows needs a shutdown to clear the accumulated garbage. Make sure that the Wireless button is pressed & blue. If you go into the setup of your modem/router you will see the lease period. Mine is 24 hours (Vodafone) |

I checked the update history and, sure enough, all updates had been automatically downloaded and installed - except for SP1, which had failed. Now installed and seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks wratterus! |
