426404 2006-02-02 16:07:00 Hi everyone . This is my first post .

I'm trying to find out what my friend's pc is worth . I'm in the UK and my friend recently emigrated to . . . New Zealand! They asked me to try sell this pc for them but I got no idea where to start .

It's a TIME computer which I understand is made in the UK and mainly for commercial/business use . Don't think it's sold widely in retailers .

But anyways, here's the spec:

MANUFACTURER: TIME
O/S: Windows xp 2002
CHIP: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
MEMORY: 192 MB RAM
PROCESSOR SPEED: 2 . 08 GHz
DRIVE CAPACITY: 72 GB Hard drive
DVD read/write
ATAPI COMBO 48xMAX DVD/CD-R

FEATURES:
Keyboard, Modem, Mouse, USB, Speakers, Lexmark printer

cHEERS :)

No mention of a monitor.

I will say $700, and see how close it is to the more knowledgable guesses.

** Ok, looks like mine was a bit high. Wan't sure about the printer. WinXP license got to be worth a bit though?

Anyway, I would say $500 NZD (brands would be helpful (i.e. the dvd drive))

Let's get this straight . You're in the UK, so presumably the PC is too and you will be selling it in the UK - correct? Or have they taken the the PC with them and for some reason are using you, who is still int he UK, to sell it for them here?

If it is the former, then getting a bunch of Kiwis, who have little knowledge of the 2nd-hand PC market in the UK, to price it for you might not be the best way of doing this . I'd try looking on ebay . co . uk for a similar specced PC to get an idea of value .

If it is the latter then do the same thing on trademe . co . nz .

426410 2006-02-03 13:37:00 Thank you everyone for the replies . Yes I'm in England and will be selling it here . Even though you don't get this make of computer in NZ, you've given me a good idea of what the spec might be worth, generally speaking (although, as with anything, it's only worth as much as someone is willing pay, right?) .

Also been looking on eBay and stuff and have to say that your estimates are higher than I thought . Perhaps used pc's have better resale value in NZ?

Anyways, think I'll try for around £100+ . At least I know not to 'give it away' for £20!

Cheers

426411 2006-02-03 13:52:00 ps: if you confused as to why I'm asking this info on this particular forum it's because when I did a search for 'used computer evaluation/what's my pc worth?' on AOL, this forum came up third on the search results. Thought I'd give it a try! ;) jerryneol (9734)
