426308 2006-02-02 02:39:00 Telecom recenty "upgraded" my friends DSL line. I have only talked to him over the phone, however it sounds like they have screwed up his connection to the exchange.

Now he only gets a slower link to the exchange, and it drops frequently. He is in an urban area, and has had a solid connection for some time.

Has anyone else experienced something similar in the last few days?

We've been seeing a few customer complaints of late.

426311 2006-02-02 04:10:00 Ring them and tell them.
Same thing happened to me (turned out partly to be my router, but shhh!). A friendly fellow came out, took a look and told me someone had wired something strangely down the road, went and fixed it. Had a better connection ever since.

You never know if someone has recently wired something new in, or the exchange has been worked on unless you call them and get them to check.

Can the look in the web interface/logs for anything that might relate?

They have the dlink DSL rounter with 802.11 that xtra was giving away, complete with xtra branded firmware.

I got them a shorter lead from the phone jack to the router, and that seemd to get it stable, but I was in an extreme hurry last night and didn't get to even login to the web interface.. I just plugged the cable, it looked good so I fled.

I've yet to hear if it stayed stable after that.
