687725 2008-07-11 00:06:00 i just brought (dont comment i know) WWE Wrestlemania 24, it refuses to play in my ps2 or dvd player but i can get to play in my laptop which is slightly older.....now while the DVD is playing it says at the top left WWEHD.... would this be the reason why it doesnt play in the ps2 or dvd player? aidanmaz (7180)
687726 2008-07-11 00:47:00 Provided it's a standard DVD, there will be no actual HD content on there so thats not likely to be the cause. It's more likely to be some kind of protection on the DVD itself.

Does it work ok on a standalone DVD player?
You could try something free like DVD43 (http://www.dvd43.com/) & see if that helps (or AnyDVD that costs $$).

687727 2008-07-11 03:19:00 the 2 standalone dvd players i tried both dont recongnise the dvd at all. after alot of load they same something the the effect of unrecogniseable media. Its odd.....does the fact its NTSC (whatever the hell that is) mean anything? its a region 4, and theres also a square box with a "0" in it. aidanmaz (7180)
687728 2008-07-11 03:53:00 NTSC is a picture format / like PAL

Its for different countries

687729 2008-07-11 04:04:00 yeah, the fact it's in NTSC is what's causing your problem. Your PS2 and normal DVD player can probably only handle PAL DVD and not NTSC.

You could rip it to your PC and recode it to PAL, burn it to DVD-R and it would play but if you can watch it fine on your PC then you might not bother.

687730 2008-07-11 04:33:00 What make and age is your DVD player. I doubt it has anything to do with it being Pal or NTSC that is stopping it from playing. Check your DVD player manual to see what formats it can play.

687731 2008-07-11 04:34:00 its a 3 disc set. so i think i will avoid reburning, not worth it, i leave it to watching on my laptop, cheers aidanmaz (7180)
687732 2008-07-11 04:38:00 first dvd player was a simple dse (hey it plays copied dvds better than anything else) the second was a black diamond DVD/VCR which has NTSC playback aidanmaz (7180)
687733 2008-07-11 05:09:00 i bought that dvd, plays fine on our panasonic and on our philips mark1978 (13845)
687734 2008-07-11 05:22:00 Maybe your discs are damaged or something then? have you checked for scratches, cd rot, etc? Agent_24 (57)
