687384 2008-07-10 09:31:00 I need to know how to set ESET NOD 3.06 to accept Windows XP Automatic Updates. I installed Windows XP on a new system but after 6 months I notice that I do not have any Windows updates installed. When I try to reset the Automatic Update option in the Control Panel, Systems dialog, flips back to disabled each time I attempt to activate the Automatic Update option.

Is this the ESET NOD antivirus blocking it? If so I do I configure it so that I can download Windows XP Updates?

687385 2008-07-10 09:34:00 I need to know how to set ESET NOD 32 3.06 to accept Windows XP Automatic Updates. I installed Windows XP on a new system but after 6 months I notice that I do not have any Windows updates installed. When I try to manually reset the Automatic Update option in the Control Panel, Systems dialog, flips back to disabled each time I attempt to activate the Automatic Update option.

Is this the ESET NOD 32 antivirus blocking it? If so, what do I configure it so that the Automatic updates option will work?

687386 2008-07-10 09:54:00 Welcome to Press F1 - sounds strange, never had Nod32 stop windows updates, and I sell lots of that AV to my customers.

What gives the indication its Nod causing the Problem ??

What you do need to do, is if you are using the inbuilt windows Firewall, you have to turn it off - It stops the windows auto updates and manual updates from working - you would think that MS would have got that right to allow their own software through .;)

To check the windows firewall, go into the control panel, double click Windows Firewall,( or Security Center if in Category mode) and disable, then try manually updating windows, if it still doesn't then there is something else causing it.

Click the Start Button

Click Run

And enter in .... services.msc

Press Enter

What is Automatic Updates set to? (Manual, Auto, Disabled?)

AviBom - please don't make duplicate posts with the same question... it only confuses the issue :2cents:
