2008-07-10 07:49:00 | The automatic updates from Microsoft yesterday (9th July) are preventing pages loading in Firefox & Internet Explorer. Have only been able to sort by using System Restore to earlier date. Anyone else having problems? Solutions other than stopping installation of updates? Am running XP. | GrahamW (13953) | |
2008-07-10 07:54:00 | Are you using Zonealarm?? If you are, you have to update it, or uninstall the updates from the other day, then get the ZA update, then install it. Then reinstall the XP updates

2008-07-10 08:08:00 | I may be having related problems: The updates from MS for my XP system are stopping my wireless network (D-Link adapter, Linksys router) from working -- I have updated twice now, both times following the update I get "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" and I've got no internet at all. I've twice gone back to the pre-update restore point, and I'm staying there now until I find out which update is doing this. Yes, I have ZA Pro, but it is completely up to date. Definitely the update -- I did not update the other computer on on my network, and it is fine. Does MS know about this? Can anyone point at a MS url that er works arfound this? thanks -- michael

2008-07-10 08:15:00 | But did you get the update that came out yesterday/today?? For Zonealarm?? Since it has only been updated to address this issue with the MS updates?

2008-07-10 09:08:00 | Speedy was right on the nose. Can't understand why ZA did not advise of an update to solve this problem -- it was hard for me to know whether it was Network Magic, ZAP, or something related to by adapter or router. Perhaps someone wants me to do away with all this third-party stuff... Thank you!

2008-07-10 09:22:00 | The culprit is "Security Update for Windows (KB 951748) If anyone is still having problems go to Add/Remove Programs & Remove it. Worked for me. | amyes5 (2773) | |
2008-07-10 09:22:00 | It may have been MS's screwup, and ZA had to fix the program, because of what the MS update did. No probs :)

2008-07-10 12:01:00 | yes - but that update addresses the DNS issue - so if you dont allow the patch you will be open to being redirected and exposed to all kinds of phishing expeditions without you realizing it at all - so personaly, I'd just get the latest ZA update here (download.zonealarm.com) which has fixed the problem, and allow all MS updates to be installed. | bevy121 (117) | |
