428151 2006-02-07 23:21:00 I'm not going to dredge up the previous thread, if anybody is that keen to review the history they can read it Here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) but I wrote to the issuing authority and the outcome is:

They waived the $200 fine.

You don't ask, you don't get.

Cheers

Asking nicely always comes at the top of the list George, remember that!

I wrote a simple polite letter explaining all the circumstances and enclosing photos as proof of the attempted theft . I didn't throw a fit, ***** about the complainant, or demand anything, I simply asked them politely to consider rescinding the infringement notice .

For all sorts of low level disputes (including warranty or service issues) logic, persistence, and politeness almost always wins the day . Never be the person who starts the war, but once war is declared, fight clean and fair, stick to the facts and leave personalities out of it .

Cheers

Congratulations Billy.

A good command of the English language certainly helps in situations like that. Your tips on how to deal with disputes would make NZ a better place to live in if more people dealt with their problems that way.

Cheers. :)
