427846 2006-02-06 23:26:00 Is there anywhere I can still buy the extra episodes of those cool old 2d side scrollers?

I've been playing Duke Nukem 1 & 2 & I have found them quite addictive. Commander keen was another great side scroller. I think I still have a few commander keen games somewhere.

427848 2006-02-07 12:09:00 Home of the Underdogs is really great - I think the majority of games there are full version games which have now been released as freeware - they also provide torrent links for the larger files...

Some excellent platform games:

Abuse (DOS)

Blackthorne (DOS)

Jazz Jackrabbit 1 (DOS), 2 and "The Secret Files"

You can get those from HOTU - Jazz Jackrabbit 2 runs great under XP and still looks and sounds great despite its age.

427849 2006-02-07 15:44:00 Actually, a huge proportion of their files are not freewares. Technically speaking, HOTU is somewhat akin to a piracy website... but most publishers don't really care ayway. Amoki (9426)

427852 2006-02-10 06:32:00 I found someone who still had a copy of Commander Keen 6, but the manual was lost many years ago so I can't play it :(. Such a pity. I loved the Commander Keen series Greven (91)

427854 2006-02-16 05:50:00 I don't know how old this thread is "found it on a google search", but I am hoping you guys/gals can help me find an old game.

The problem is I can't remember the name.

Its an older game which I believe was for Windows 98. It was a shareware game.

It was a turned based tank game. 3D enviroment that you could spin around with right click and could have like up to 12 guys on the screen. You would go through rounds and you could repair yourself during the fight. Upgrade your weapons with money, etc. There were weapons like "The Penetrator" (don't laugh, it was like 5 or 6 bombs stacked on top of each other to drive a guy into the ground), "Fat Man" (giant red bomb), "Little Boy" (smaller blue bomb), "Cluster Bomb" (7 or 8 purple bombs), "Neutron Bomb" (clearish greyish bomb), etc.

Anyone remember this game? I loved this game and my old comp doesn't seem to have it anymore.

427855 2006-02-16 06:31:00 Doesn't ring a bell, but I've got a couple of gigs of abandonware to play through. I'll let you know if I find anything that fits that description Greven (91)
