| 427352 | 2006-02-05 05:53:00 | My 21st birthday is coming up in March & my friends have decided I have to do either a yardie or 21 shots. They have also decided that I have to do a half yardie next time I'm drinking with them "in preperation for my 21st". What do you think is the lesser of the two evils? I'm not usually a big drinker - I usually go out drinking once a week or fortnight & drink half of one of those small bottles of jim beam. |

| 427353 | 2006-02-05 05:56:00 | Depends how well you can hold vast quantities of liquid down. I really suck at skulling, so there is no way in hell I would ever be able to put back a yardie. In the past I have known to...uh....drink far more and for far longer then what would be considered healthy, I done a full yard glass at my 21st with no issues, I wouldn't try and do 21 shots in one sitting, its probally enough to kill a lot of people. I like 3 or 4 shots of Tequila myself, But the most I ever managed in a sitting was 14 or 15.... I suggest you go with the yard glass, my guess is you will throw up, but thats better then 21 shots which will at the very least ruin your night. |

That sounds like an awesome party. There is no way my 21st is going to match that, but we will have fire. Lots of fire :D. I'll probably have to make it BYO because I am unemployed & short on cash. All my friends got their parents to buy the alcohol for their 21sts, but since they didn't put on a keg for my sister's 21st, I doubt they will put one on for me. Everyone is leaving Invercargill. I wonder how many will come down for my birthday. Everyone loves fire, so I'll get 2 or 3 braziers & an oldschool BBQ that you have to actually light a fire in - not like the boring modern gas BBQs |

| 427357 | 2006-02-05 06:43:00 | Go with the yard, if you're lucky it won't be a full 1/2 G capacity. For mine, I barfed an inch from finishing, the sods "assisting" me, made me start. Managed to keep it down a full 5 or 10 minutes 2nd time around, but then all hell broke loose, back she came with a vengence. I can't tell you what the rest of the moring was like, because I haven't a clue what went on until about 2pm in the arvo. A mate, a bit younger than me, also managed to barf when he had nearly finished off his yard, though he managed to not spill a single drop, whereas I'd managed to carelessly biff all mine over the parents front lawn and driveway. Remebering what had happened to me (and he being one of the rinleaders), he went to and downed it again :groan: |

| 427358 | 2006-02-05 07:39:00 | Hint of the day: Don't drink hardly anything before doing the yardie on the night... I suggest a half-time break as something about the volume of the yardie to one's stomach doesn't usually add up. :D |

| 427359 | 2006-02-05 07:49:00 | Heres a tip, Pour the yardie a good hour before drinking it, Let that gas dissipate. When your drinking it, make sure its being turned, Tell whoever is helping you to do this, if they dont then start turning it yourself, if it starts caming at you in waves then your done for. The idea is to open your throat, let the entire lot pour into your gut in one steady stream. |
