427134 2006-02-04 09:00:00 I have three year old Philips 21” CRT television. It was working just fine until recently, but now whenever I turn TV on and press power button on the remote it comes out of standby for few seconds but displays no picture or sound. It goes back into standby mode immediately.

Is this a common problem? Anyone experienced this before? Thanks for any help.

427135 2006-02-04 17:09:00 I take it, you are not a TV Serviceperson,

If you were, you would know it is shuting down due to a fault protection, if you take the back off to try and fix it yourself, when you are finished and if it still does not work, dump it in the bin, and buy another cheap one.

TV service people do not need someone elses "ex repair abortion" to make their day, they have enough other problems with other genuine repairs that their customers have not $$$$$$ with.

427137 2006-02-04 19:30:00 Read the post man,

The TV is faulty anyone else would just take it too a repair shop or ring them up for advice and get it fixed .

You do know that TV goes faulty don't you,

I don't come here to get my sports injuries solved I hobble up to the local doctor .

427138 2006-02-04 19:40:00 Get a grip Eric Richards.

STi merely asked about his TV (like many others here have) because he knows PF1 members have a wide range of backgrounds and you can get helpful advice on many non-PC related things.

If the most helpful advice you can give from the description of the problem is to let a TV tech fix it, then just say that - nice and polite. Your other comments were way over the top.

Chill out.

427143 2006-02-05 02:14:00 This thread is pure quality.

STi, I would like to apologise on behalf of Pressf1 for the behaviour or Eric, I have no idea what he is trying to achive, and hopefully someone can offer up some relivant info rather then trying to berate people for asking a question, There are a number of TV techs who post here who should be able to help.
