| 426811 | 2006-02-03 11:38:00 | Hi, I sold a cellphone about 5 weeks ago for $255 plus $4.75 shipping to an international buyer (didn't know at the time it closed), but a local shipping address. He appeared (and I still think he is) genuine and said he would pay me first then I could send it, so I was happy. But he paid with bidpay (Western Union) and after about 10 e-mails like so: "I'll send it when I get the money." YOUR MONEY IS WITH US PLS UNDERSTAND WE JST NEED YOUR TRACKING NUMBR THEN U WiLL GET YOUR MONEY TRANSFERRED "No, I really need the money first, I can't trust international buyers that much" etc etc I just gave up and sent it. All seemed fine because they said they had tracked it and would pay me soon. But they keep saying rubbish about "reconstituturing" their website so their payment system won't work and how I'll get the money soon. But now it's been a month since then and they're not even replying anymore. What do I do? Or will I never see my money again? George |

Did TradeMe shutdown their forums or something? I don't think I will either, but I intend to at least try. They still claim to want to pay me. I suppose I could go round and repossess the phone which will by now be worth about $60 (he paid twice what it was worth anyway, but that's irrelevent as HE paid up happily) and make the guy's "poor pastor in New Zealand" very sad indeed - but I don't think that would be very nice. The auction threads here are because posts that don't put TradeMe in a good light just get deleted by them, and so we get annoyed and come here :p. You got scammed! See, it even happens to intelligent people like me :rolleyes: |
