687736 2008-07-11 21:53:00 Ok here is a couple of reasons you may be having this problem.
I have 2 DVD players connected up to my TV. One is a 4 and a half year old Pioneer DVD player and the other is a 4 month old Sony DVD/HD recorder. I use the Pioneer as my main DVD player. Over the last couple of weeks I have had a couple of DVDs skipping and freezing on the Pioneer, but when I put them in the Sony they play perfectly. On looking at the surfaces of the DVDs one has a few scratches on it and the other a couple of imperfections in the making of it. What I suspect is happening is the the error checking technology has greatly improved since the Pioneer was made and the Sony is able to compensate better for errors in the DVDs, or else my Pioneer is getting a bit worn out.
The other suggestion I have is that the laser is slightly out of alinement in the player that can't read the DVD, which as far as I know nothing can be done about it.
What you could try and do if you want to play the DVD on the other player is to make a copy of it and see if it well play then.

687738 2008-07-12 01:56:00 maybe it's your PS2 at fault, not the discs. Do you notice a clicking noise coming from the PS2 when it tries to read the disc but fails? Agent_24 (57)
