430200 2006-02-14 00:00:00 Bought a PC magazine and tried to use the CD. Found it was a DVD found out how to read it. Decided to buy a DVD writer. Bought a Samsung TS - H5521 from an online trader about $76 delivered. It wouldn't burn. Tried with 5 DVD -R. Rang the trader. $53 telephone bill 009 numbers. No satisfactory answers. Trader said could send it back they would test it, wanted $5 to return it. Sent it back in what I consider resaleable condition and said I want my money back. Only option pay more money and buy another model. Eventually got reply by email my returned machine was damaged. My opinion it was in resaleable order when I returned but I can't prove that. Have built three computers and upgraded two in the last 5 years parts all bought online.
This is the first time I've been caught.

430201 2006-02-14 00:20:00 More an experience with an "online trader". The lowest price isn't always the best guide. Companies with larger markups have expectations of staying in business longer, so might treat customers better. :D Graham L (2)

430203 2006-02-14 02:56:00 I have returned three of these writers in the past year. All stopped reading and/or writing some sort of format. All still in warranty timeframe so all replaced. Would never buy or recommend this writer to anybody as a result.

Out of interest - who were you dealing with?

430205 2006-02-14 09:50:00 Thanks Tukapa. I'm scared of any legal backlash because I am ignorant of such matters. I got the trader out of Price Spy. Thanks to you'all. Yes I made mistakes but learn fast. FrancisL (9801)
430206 2006-02-14 21:05:00 It's defiantly better to deal with a shop for new goods thinks me .

My first CDwriter that i bought many years ago came with warrentee, but i thrashed the poor thing the death well within the warentee time and got it replaced, twice .

The unit was supplied by computerfuture in CHCH . As a result of this i still buy stuff from them, and send people their way even today .

Who was the "online trader"? It's good to know who to avoid .

430207 2006-02-14 22:42:00 People like to know who to avoid and who is recommended .

You've got nothing to worry about by posting the online traders name here .

If that were the case SupercheapPc would have bankrupted every second poster on these forums by taking them through the Courts :D

Although in saying that I have used SupercheapPC on a few occasions and had no problems . Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones!
