| 429014 | 2006-02-10 23:49:00 | How can a heart surgean who made 1/4 million bucks out of dealing with stuff you can make P out get off? Beats me . So if the sum is made out of what, 'illegal activity' then surely it should be given up, favourite charity, something like that . Is it taxable income? Was it declared? Some kid from Otara sells three packets and says he thinks it's going to the islands for headache relief gets off too? Not likely . Judge was defending one of his own, that's all, old as the hills . Nothing to do with with sotisism tho, biggest blunder was probably the cops who sat on the info about his big purchases for 9 months . As for Tamahori, who cares? Guy wants to wear woman's clothing is his business . What a bunch of Mrs Grundies giving him a hard time . Women had hard enough job wearing pants to the workplace, can't see why a guy can't wear a skirt . And yeah fishnets, none of my business . Not my scene but neither's horse-racing and I don't try to ridicule that . |

Was it declared? Just musing, but if found not guilty, the activity cannot have been illegal, therefore on what basis should he be deprived of the cash? Some kid from Otara sells three packets and says he thinks it's going to the islands for headache relief gets off too? Not likely . Most likely the kid would not have committed a crime, unless it was part of an organised scheme for bulk buying of precursor drugs clearly headed for the P factories . Judge was defending his own Excuse me? It was a jury of his peers who found him not guilty . I don't recall reading of any instruction from the Judge telling the Jury that he should be found NG . I'm not defending him by the way, he appears to have been incredibly stupid, incredibly naive, or both . However, it is not a crime to assist in the export of street-legal drugs (assuming that the drugs actually did leave the country) so maybe the Jury gave him the benefit of the doubt . On the positive side, with his apparent work rate, if he gets back to surgery many good citizens will benefit from his skills so that is one positive outcome . Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 429016 | 2006-02-11 05:23:00 | I think the judge influenced the jury by stating very clearly that whole case depended on whether or not the guy knew they were going to an illegal use. Now how naive do you have to be to be able to make 1/4 mill out of headache pills and think it's totally legit? Wouldn't he have talked to anyone about the nice little earner 'that was helping people back in China?" And wouldn't any of those people have said 'well sounds a bit like the "too good to be true" category to me"? Beats me you can make that sort of money and all it's totally legit? |

With respect Billy, and I realise you're musing but, what utter BS . It requires no more analysis nor further discussion than that . |
