429712 2006-02-13 23:47:00 But 60 - 80 bucks per month for 10 gigs of damn fast Internet access is too much?

I wouldn't exactly call it damn fast with 128K upload or the so call upgraded speed of 512K, trying to upload photos to an online album is painfully slow .

429713 2006-02-13 23:50:00 Australia gets it. Why can't we?But you can (www.airnz.co.nz). What wre you waiting for? Graham L (2)

There are other mega high speed Internet options - you want em... pay for em. Simple. Greg (193)

Now you’re coming back to money….

There are some people out there who (including me) who thinks $79.95 is a bit expenses to pay for broadband.( even my mum thought when we went to the $59.95 plan that that was expenses for internet access.)

If you are happy paying $80 for broadband then you must have no family & both you & your wife is working full time & you must be bring in a LOT of money.

I think a Lexus is too expensive but people happily pay for them.

The fact of the matter is that data (not broadband, not dialup, not cable) but any International data in New Zealand is FCKGWing expensive.

Read the thread and think about it. You want a 2Mb connection, you want to pay next to nothing for it, and you want to be able to max that pipe out at 2Mb any time you please.

So does everyone else.

The ISP has to provide that 2Mb pipe to the best of their ability, where it is costing them literally ~$1k per Mb for international transit.

It's just not realistic.

I don't think diamonds are worth $1000's, but people do and people pay for them. Live with it.

429717 2006-02-14 01:22:00 Cry me a freakin river.

realistic expectations, realistic price, $30 bucks for 200mb is not realistic, its insulting.

And the rest of the plans are crap, complete and utter crap.

429718 2006-02-14 01:27:00 I think its a case of the more you get the more you want.

What about the rural people, while everyone is debating costs and upload speeds and data limits, I bet theres heaps who would be happy to have what we have now.

Wasn't that long ago all I had was a 9600 baud modem.

429719 2006-02-14 01:29:00 Rural people?

They have sheep, if they are still unsatisfied they should polish the gumboots, Syphin some fuel out of the generator, pour it into the Toyota and head off to town.

eeeewww.....You smell like cow patties.

429720 2006-02-14 01:33:00 Yes, you're right. However, if they offered some plans without access to the help desk, I'm sure lots of people would be interested in them (obviously not beginners) and thus they wouldn't need to employ and pay as many tech support staff. :)How would that work? What happens when your connection goes down, or Telecom screws your line etc etc.

Not very realistic unfortunately.

429721 2006-02-14 01:37:00 Simple, 3 calls within 2 months to the helpdesk and the ISP sends around some drunk mexicans to dish out some baseball bat therapy. Metla (12)
