That's not what Tony's looking for.

430117 2006-02-19 05:43:00 Hi Tony,
Sorry I have been away on holiday for the last few weeks but you might like to have a look at the following website www.kslfinancial.co.nzIf you spent more time reading the thread and less on your marketing you would have seen that the topic was not how to save/prepare for retirement but a request for information about general spending patterns as people age.

Can you provide that?

430118 2006-02-19 06:07:00 And personally, I think the post fits within the definition of spam. John H (8)
430119 2006-02-20 18:27:00 I don't think this qualifies as spam. I posted on an open forum a link to a website and disclosed the fact that it is a commercial website, and that I work for the company. I left it up to him to visit or contact as he wishes.
More importantly, Tony has raised an important issue which most NZers tend just to ignore. It is important that we all plan for retirement as NZ Super is not going to provide future NZers with adequate funds for them to live in retirement in the custom to which they have become accustomed.

430120 2006-02-20 19:01:00 I notice you still haven't answered my question though... Tony (4941)

Well, you may be right, but whether it fits the strict definition of spam or not, I have an aversion to people using this site for their advertising. I thought that was agin the rules.

And you didn't help your advertising pitch by failing to read (or understand?) Tony's question. He is not asking for the assistance you have chosen to advertise - he is asking a quite different question. Not understanding the question he is asking does not reflect well on the perspicacity of KSL Financial. And I am one of the firm's clients, so it raises questions about my wisdom as well...

430122 2006-02-21 08:30:00 I was concerned that I had missed the point of Tony's post, so I reread it. I can't answer the question in this forum as there are issues of confidentiality, disclosure and compliance. Tony would need to disclose information to us from which we could advise him as to how long his funds will last.
Anyway it is up to him if he wishes to contact me, I didn't post this to get into a fight about it but as a genuine response to his inquiry. I won't be adding to this thread. from my point of view - subject closed!

I won't be adding to this thread. from my point of view - subject closed! You still miss the point. My question had nothing to do with the details of my personal circumstances. I asked the question "In general, do people spend less as they age?" I also pointed out that I was confident I had enough money to see me out, and I was really looking to see whether I could afford to spend more now because I would need less later. So I don't think you did read the post in a way unclouded by your own wish to sell a service, and you certainly didn't read the subsequent expansions and explanations.

430124 2006-02-21 23:35:00 One of the getting older group here .
Not sure if it will help ~ info doesn't seem to be out there .

Generally we spend very little on entertainment, health cost are nil at this stage . Go out for a drive, usually to a beach, taking a packed lunch is the normal day out . Any fish caught is a bonus .
We both enjoy walking ~ the dog does too .

Money is spent on healthy food, meals are cooked at home . Just going on the premis that you are what you eat, I'd sooner eat well & keep extra weight off than pay Doc's bills . Takeaways maybe once every couple of months . We also enjoy a good red ~ one .
My Mac easily keeps us up to date & in contact with family & friends .

Planning on selling our 3 bed home and buying a motor home . Renting out the house isn't an option .
Live where we want while we can and no lawns, gardens or neighbours to worry about . Not for everyone but it will suit us . Only cheaper casual clothes needed . Casual work is often available if needed . Desktop Mac will be changed to laptop Mac ;)

When too old for wandering around NZ & maybe Aussie in ten / twenty :D years the money invested will set up a small rental unit somewhere warmer & drier than the Waikato . Don't expect to be able to afford another home by then . Will have plenty of memories to keep us going and with any luck not too many regrets . NZ Broadband might even be worth having by then too .

We could be boring and play safe & stay in our debt free home but super, private plus govt later wouldn't allow us to travel around or do much at all after normal household expenses & rates . Being stuck in one place twiddling our thumbs doesn't suit either of us . 60s teenagers haven't changed much . :p

Grown son expects us to live with his family later ~ I really don't think that will work . Mum & daughter is bad enough, MIL & DIL in one kitchen is asking for trouble . Better a bit of help to stay independent .

Should be on the road by the end of this year .
