| 429984 | 2006-02-14 20:27:00 | ....Not only guys may think it's garbage. Some women do also. But if it helps those who want/need to show their feelings ( and who's to say that's a bad thing, particularly if it wouldn't happen otherwise?), then certainly the nicest emotions should reign on 14 February. I do hope you young guys did the right thing...like send one to your mother. She'll still be there after the girlfriend is long gone...If it takes a "special day" as chosen by some commercial tradition to get people to show they care, then relationships are in real trouble. I'm not just talking about relationships between lovers here, but also friends. Having said that, i did send a homemade card to a dear friend, although that was promted a week before hand by us laughing and joking about how how we should send each other Valentines cards cause no-one else will :p She sent me an E-card And why a homemade card? Because if i'm going to bother to send someone something to show i care, it has to come from me, not from hallmark or interflora. Whats the point of showing someone that i can obey tradition and spend money on something that had no practical value 2 days later? Worst thing about it is that it sends a guilt trip to others that they should do the same, and there's no way i would want my friends to make such pointless sacrifices for me on this or any other spend$$now day. As for sending flowers to my mom... I'd rather stay in her good books thankyou. |
