Acually I much prefer practicality from my husband rather than some silly flowers that are dead in no time. We are eliminating the mortgage, he can just redecorate, dig up gardens and tend to the chooks and I'll be happy. |

| 429979 | 2006-02-14 10:42:00 | I think I'm a fool, because I'll never forget to send missus flowers on the 14th. I disagree with it, and hate the commercialism of it, but it's a "must do". Her comment to me today was that her workmates said (boringly) "oh, more flowers from Greg". So yeah, I send her flowers on and off at any time of the year, but still regard 14th Feb as an essential. |

| 429982 | 2006-02-14 12:01:00 | Right on, Greg... Stick with the "must do." Yes, we may hate the commercialism, but under a certain age nowadays, it seems you have little choice. (Some of us went through our "courting years," knowing Valentines Day merely as a name - an American custom, We can simply smile nowadays at the fuss or join the fashion) For all the grumps about Valentines Day, I guess there are hordes of people whose lives/relationships it really affects. Not only guys may think it's garbage. Some women do also. But if it helps those who want/need to show their feelings ( and who's to say that's a bad thing, particularly if it wouldn't happen otherwise?), then certainly the nicest emotions should reign on 14 February. I do hope you young guys did the right thing...like send one to your mother. She'll still be there after the girlfriend is long gone... |
