688890 2008-07-16 09:18:00 OK, on the motherboard's parallel port (the pink part) there is a sticker showing:

A7V600-X-UAYKZ
||||||||||||||||| (barcode)
52MD023408

And on the surface of the motherboard there is a chip marked:

V I A (logo)
VT8237
0441 CD CHINA
2IA29B0161

I can post images if they would be of any help (post if yes).

688891 2008-07-16 09:27:00 Might be an ASUS A7V600-X

Here (support.asus.com)

Type in A7V600-X in the top left

WHAT'S etched on the motherboard?? The model SHOULD be etched somewhere between the PCI ports

Take photos of the mobo itself and upload them here (imagef1.net.nz)

Does the mobo look like this ? (www.asus.com)

688892 2008-07-16 10:44:00 Sounds like it's an Asus A7V600-X alright... Much better than ECS!

And that would explain why the audio drivers for an ECS P4VMM2 (V7.3) didn't work.... They are completely different!

In light of that, try these drivers here instead: dlcdnet.asus.com

688893 2008-07-16 23:52:00 Yes yes yes yes. Thats the motherboard I inspected so closely.
I'll download drivers on a broadband connection (only dialup on that pc) and install them tonight.

Thanks for all the help you've given me (in advance)
