Taking a look at the ads on the Gentoo site shows co-location offerings with connections at T1 seeds (1.5mbit/s).As Graham says, there is really little to debate. Check out a datacenter like The Planet (http://www.theplanet) for examples of standard dedicated server specs. :) | maccrazy (6741) | ||

2006-02-17 01:03:00 | Interesting that Telecom announced a plan with 512K upload just a little over a month to the xbox 360 launch. It requires (according to the non-ms website I just read) 512k each way. It would have looked *very* bad indeed for telecom if their entire range of DSL plans were two crap to support a games console. -Qyiet

2006-02-17 01:47:00 | Interesting that Telecom announced a plan with 512K upload just a little over a month to the xbox 360 launch. Ah, that could explain it... It requires (according to the non-ms website I just read) 512k each way. It would have looked *very* bad indeed for telecom if their entire range of DSL plans were two crap to support a games console. Indeed & MS would need to have another go at Telecom . Now I can just see kids saying to there mum/dad, I need the 3.5m/512K plan to I can use xbox 360 & a month latter the parents getting a big shock in there monthly bill

2006-02-21 19:07:00 | Hey Greg ! Do you work for Telecom ? You must be the only person in New Zealand who thinks they are fair ! Sure their new offer is better, but offers overseas are always getting better. And Telecom trying to compare us with Australia is a joke as they are not very high up the list either ! Telecom have NEVER given us anthing unless competteion did it first. Eg 4$ talk all day toll calls (Clear) donations to schools (Clear). Free text messages (Vodaphone). Prepaid (Bell South) On the subject of mobile phones it is still far to dear to call one from a landline 72 cents a minutes (ex GST). This is the same price as when mobiles first came out in the late 80's ! No one likes calling a mobile as its so dammed dear and that why we all use text's which they don't have to in Europe. | 429778 | 2006-02-21 20:27:00 | I don't work for Telecom. But I'm what's called a stakeholder. I use their services therefore I have a stake in their business. Therefore I want them to be successful so that they can continue to supply me with a world-class quality service, at a fair and reasonable price. That's exactly what they're giving me.

2006-02-22 02:30:00 | I'm getting a higher download speed and cap at no extra cost so I'm happy. But it doesn't make me dim Murray! :D Last time I looked in the mirror I wasn't a light bulb..... As for those PF1 members in business complaining about the cost - have you factored in the 33% Government sponsored discount? A
