| 689025 | 2008-07-15 04:39:00 | Hi There Chkdsk /r found bad clusters but the chkdsk summary gave 0 bad sectors Arnt they the same thing?? Im pretty sure the drive is suspect, even the Win log files show some drive errors. Only problem is that if it show 0 bad sectors I cant get a warranty replacement. |

| 689027 | 2008-07-15 04:47:00 | Use the tool from the manufacturer (Seagate/WD whatever it is) :thumbs: A chkdsk should fix any issues, as long as the HDD is in sound condition. The Ultimate Boot CD (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) has all the HDD diags on it. |

However Win chkdsk marked off a few 'clusters' as bad/unreadble, then gave a summary of no bad sectors. I know there is also a format switch to force a recheck of bad clusters, I was just wondering why chkdsk marked off areas as bad then gave a no bad sectors summary. |
