688609 2008-07-14 01:13:00 Just a quick headsup to caution about installing it in a LAN environment with peer to peer sharing . I have installed a couple in a wifi shared printer environment and immediately found the printing stopped . As per normal, I added the LAN trusted range but found another machine which had an old version of ZA on it couldn't ping the printer host machine until I moved the host machine's trusted zone slider to 'off' .

After this, another machine which had the new ZA added, couldn't print . It could ping the host machine, however . I uninstalled ZA and printing resumed .

Just a warning to tread carefully in a p to p environment . Personally, I am for jumping ship like most all of you advise!!

688610 2008-07-14 01:14:00 Don't use ZA full stop.

It's a horrible firewall, it causes so many problems.

Get Comodo, it's still free and far better.

688612 2008-07-14 02:57:00 The free Zonealarm is fine for a single PC. The only problem I've ever had with it was the problem with Microsoft's update last week which the new free version has fixed. paulmc (13942)

I agree Comodo was far harder to configure initially and I have had to ditch it on our 2 desktops as it would not play nice with my ethernet controller from asus and not with acronis either we have gone back to ZA
