| 689545 | 2008-07-16 22:48:00 | I'm doing something wrong. Trying to run uTorrent, but searching even for uTorrent itself shows no results. Perhaps my FW is blocking it. The setup shows port 43461 , uPnP enabled, NAT PMP (whatever this is) enabled. Any suggestions? And please be gentle and patient - I am one of those sloooooooow ones. sarel |

| 689546 | 2008-07-16 23:09:00 | Does your router have Upnp enabled? Do a test in the Utorrent preferences, make sure the port is forwarded. Down the bottom, is there a red thing, a yellow question mark or a green tick? |

| 689550 | 2008-07-16 23:34:00 | Are you sure you're aware of the risks? Whenever uTorrent is open, the computer gets probed quite often. What happens is people can check the torrent tracker which computers are announcing themselves, and do a port scan on each one. There is no risk from downloading popular files which are infected however. Also, use a version of uTorrent no newer than 1.6.1. Versions after that were released after uTorrent was purchased by BitTorrent Inc (I think), which is own by Lionhead (Lions gate?) studios, Fox and several other major film studios. With the new versions, when you first load up, it contacts IPs owned by the major film studios. I'm not sure what it does, perhaps it notifies them what torrent files you have loaded up. |

S Normally your connection will be PVC0. Jams, your doing something wrong. Orcon shapes my traffic too, I get upwards of 200 kbps. I don't have Utorrent installed on my work PC, and I can't quite remember where it is. Try under file, there's something in preferences, or options, or something, that says something like "Test if port is forwarded properly". Sorry for being so vague! :p PS - if you are downloading a torrent with 5 or so seeds, you can expect to get 5 or 10 kbps. |
