689521 2008-07-16 20:20:00 I am running 4 gigs DDR3 1600 ram.

My M/B supports ddr3 2000.

Is there any advantage in upgrading?

689522 2008-07-16 21:02:00 Most probably not, for the majority of PC's out there, the bottleneck of a PC is more likely to be the HDD, or for gamers a Graphics Card.

Depends on the rest of your system, but I would say your money is better spent elsewhere :)

689523 2008-07-16 21:27:00 I was reading on another forum somewhere that the speed differance between DDR 2 ram and DDR 3 ram is about 3% and the cost differance between the two for that much increase of speed is not worth it.

Like another graphics card to match the existing one - that will make more of a difference.

He's not asking about whether he should get DDR3, as he already has it.

He's asking whether he should buy some higher clocking RAM.

Unless you're wanting to OC seriously I'd suggest you just stick with what you've got.

689527 2008-07-17 00:12:00 What's better than this?

Asus EN9800GX2 TOP/G/2DI/1G, GeForce 9800 GX2, 1024MB, $DDR3, PCIe-16, TV out, DVI, HDTV, SLI ready

No more overclocking unless I go to water coolimg. And I refuse to have water anywhere near my computer.

And definately not SLI.

And I refuse to pay $2600 for the next step up for PCU.

Sounds like I've gone as far as I can.

I'm well aware of that banana, just thought I would mention it for others to know.
