| 689175 | 2008-07-15 10:56:00 | Finally got around to contacting PC tools ( The makers of Spyware Doctor) regarding the free Starter Edition changing to the Paid trial. Brief version of the Question: I asked why did the Free version change to paid/trial after some updates, Reply from PC Tools : Thank you for contacting PC Tools. In regards to your query, the starter edition changes to the full version after the updates is because PC Tools do no provide smart updates for the starter pack, you will need to purchase the full version to obtain the latest updates. If you require further assistance on this specific request, please reply to this email. So the way I read that is when ever there is an update of any concern, not definitions but possible program updates, even small ones, the Free version doesn't know what they are, for the upgrades to work it needs to change to the paid version to install and changes. So there you have it - read that as you will. |

I had to clean absolutely everything pertaining to S/D out of this pooter even to "downloads" storage, and redownload- I have now got a free and hopefully trouble free version of S/D and Smithie 38 has been using this for quite a while, without the changing to a paid version- I hope www.pctools.com This is a very good program and worth the effort. So thank you again W T effie c |
