433126 2006-02-23 07:44:00 Mostly up to now the spam I have received has been fairly predictable and boring. Tonight however I am spam from

"Emboldened E. Snigger" - (though the subject matter is "software"). Gets my interest then a run-of-the-mill subject !

"Godiva Abramson" re "he igh news" - now, what could that be ? I remember Lady Godiva though !!

"Niko Arch" re "tricycle news" - and me without even a push bike !

Still I am not even tempted in the last resort to open them. The three above were all identified by Xtra as spam. Others (increasingly) are not. Then I send as an attachment (ie without opening) to spamreport at Xtra. I may get my reward in heaven ?!

433127 2006-02-23 09:07:00 Funny thing - I am with Paradise, and have had heaps of spam for weeks - you know, the ones that seem to be addressed to you with mostly things like "Hey buddy you are such a good friend of mine I just had to tell you about this awesome web site that saved me heaps of money when I was buying ...".

I was regularly sending them as an attached message to missedspam at paradise.net.nz and all of a sudden they have stopped.

They are not showing up in my spam folder on Paradise webmail either, so I have no idea what has happened to them.

I haven't had any like yours though Misty. Maybe they are the next generation now the others seem to have been stopped. Sigh...

433128 2006-02-23 09:54:00 That's right, you're the only person on the internet that gets spam.

Why don't you configure the Xtra spam filter to trash them on the server instead of delivering them to you, perhaps then we might get away without the threads

..
That seems to be a good way of dealing with them.......

Your spam senders are much more exotic than mine (though I have had an Ophelia, who made me feel quite Shakespearean for at least 30 seconds).

The recent influx, in spite of Xtra's filter (set to delete) made me send them unopened to my Deleted Items, instead of to spamreport as I received them. I wanted to see if there was a pattern over the days - like getting better or worse?
Anyway, this is really a request for very simple info I've been told, but forgot because I haven't used it.

Forwarding opens the email.
So how do you send to spamreport as an attachment?

John H's post shows all ISPs have the facility, so I guess anyone can tell me...
Yes, I know it's a really basic thing. ..just that I've never sent an attachment, although I get lots, so don't assume I know anything about it.

Which points & clicks in which order?

P.S. I see ninja has done his usual moan while I was composing this.
Hasn't he registered that several posts recently point out that Xtra's "Delete at server" isn't stopping spam as it used to? Or other ISPs for that matter.
My filter is enabled, of course.
This is extra from Xtra.

Or other ISPs for that matter. This poster said she is getting spam with the [SPAM] tag in the subject line. By default Xtra filter, tag and deliver spam.

If you go and modify your settings, you can set it so that mail is junked on the server and not actually just tagged and delivered, hence they would never see the message which would be better for them.

If the messages weren't seen, we'd all get the added benefit of not having the threads about it. Seriously people seem to still think that spam is still new and exciting news.

Good of you to spend the time to read and comprehend though.

Your Choice : if you regularly use your Xtra email account you decide how you want to deal with spam. You can choose to have it deleted before it arrives, or send it to a separate folder in your mailbox, or mark it up as "[SPAM]" before it gets sent to your inbox.

433132 2006-02-23 11:01:00 What utter rubbish!

Where did I say my email had {SPAM} marked by Xtra?
From your oh-so-kind-posting of Xtra's info - "You can choose to have it deleted before it arrives."

So that's what I did when the filter was first introduced. Give me credit for some nous, please. I didn't want to see it at all.
Sorry you didn't understand my "delete at server." reference.
Or the "extra from Xtra."
I expected you'd moan about this thread (Too predictable)
I also expected you'd have at least read my post properly before replying.

Hi Laura
I am not sure what email application you are using, but in Outlook, you go to Tools, Options, Email Options, and under 'On replies and forwards', go to 'When forwarding a message' and select 'Attach original message' (your default setting will probably be 'Include and indent original message text').

And as far as ninja goes, I find it much more satisfactory to have no expectations of him/her/it at all - that way you are never disappointed. ;)

From your oh-so-kind-posting of Xtra's info - "You can choose to have it deleted before it arrives."My suggestion to have the mail deleted at the server was directed to the original poster, NOT you.

I just had to explain it to you in small words because you didn't get it the first time.

I also expected you'd have at least read my post properly before replying.Nice to know you can devote your time to worrying about what I'm going to do on the internet. It must be quite rewarding for you to have so little to ocupy your mind with to resort to that.

I did read your post properly, which is more than I can say for you who didn't even bother to read and comprehend the thread. Congrats though

433135 2006-02-23 21:16:00 Poor Ninja, you really need to get a life ! (some counselling perhaps ??) .

I was not grumbling about the spam but rather making an observation . Intriguing means "interesting"; "fascinating"; "pleasantly puzzling" .

Best wishes that you have a good day today !!
cheers
Misty :)
