432010 2006-02-19 02:56:00 Ok carrying on from Mechanically minded thread recently.......

was wondering if this also is a dying breed in the kiwi bloke lifestyle?

I dont know many of these blokes any more,

Can any PF1 guys say that yes they can DIY? renovating, fencing, fixing, not PC stuff...... physical stuff........ do you do this for a living? or for helping people?

Do you have the time or inclination to do these things? Do you help damsels in distress syndromes? like the single lady or helpless person?
Or even shock...a unDIY kiwi bloke...

Do you own tools that are not PC related?

I do, but i not a bloke! well not last i looked.....:p

Hands up please, post here, ill take notes and let ya no, :p

432013 2006-02-19 03:04:00 Husband used to be. Fixed cars, built woodshed, laid pavers and built brick BBQ, installed fireplace and Kent. Gardened, repairs etc. Just not a builder, well aprt from woodsheds...
He's getting a bit old and slow now but he will be resuming at least some of it....

I think men should be able to do at least some of that sort of thing. Not into the poncy Ponsonby type that can't do anything.

432014 2006-02-19 03:13:00 One thing I've never seemed able to master, no matter how many times I've tried, is to successfully squeeze the dogs' anal glands. ;)

In the days when our young lady vet lived next door, we had this arrangement whereby she'd do the dog (and a few other things too, like euthanasing the old cat), and I'd change tap washers, or do any chain sawing required etc.

The arrangement worked quite well :D

432016 2006-02-19 03:25:00 Terry, that's put me off having pets again for life (and my late lunch!)

Apart from the skateboard beetle I own the following:

a chainsaw
an electric drill
a skill saw
a plunger
a tape measure
a hammer

that about covers any scenario... just got to get someone who knows how to use 'em :D

432017 2006-02-19 03:41:00 Erm, do any of the following fit into the DIY category?

Using a bent piece of wire nailed onto the fence as a door hook.

Making my own vertical toilet roll holder that holds three rolls.

Making hooks from coat hangers.

Or am I just plain cheap. (because thats what they look like)

432018 2006-02-19 03:45:00 Someone said that 'necessity is the mother of invention'. I think they got it wrong as a woman would never think of that :p Shortcircuit (1666)
