| 432086 | 2006-02-18 19:58:00 | Ok, what happened is this: First house - failed building report. Second house - had an offer already subject to a cash clause. We had been told that meant we could buy it without conditions as we have sold ours here already. Then after we signed up for it, we find out that no, it just means the first people now have a week to buy it. So we have 99.99% lost that one. Unless they die or something in the mean time. Third house - Signed up for this with the provision we have lost the other. And we are first with this one. So its likely we have this. This one is up the road in Wyndham. Unless some other stuff-up occurs of course, which seems to be the pattern. Seems we have a new hobby - buying houses.... And yes, I changed the pics yet again on my site. Rather tired of doing that now. Either way, we leave here on the 10th. So I'll be forum-less for a week or so, and then who knows what speed I'll be able to connect at. It sure won't be my current 2Mbps. <sob> |

Wouldn't take much to give it a spuce up with a lick of paint here and there. :) The less said about the curtains the better tho ... :waughh: |

Is that a Juno I see there in the lounge (or masport)? Don't really like the gardens (Im no gardener anyway) though if you rip out half those plants there would be enough room for Metla to throw one of his HQ shells in there (for character). Since you are all set on moving to Southland, there are some words and definitions you will need to learn: luncheon becomes belgium vacuuming becomes luxxing hot water cupboard is the super heater cupboard Sally Lunn buns are Boston buns These WERE the terms when I lived down there, whether they still used or maybe all the North Island immigrants have killed the terms ... there are others as well, just can't remember them at the moment. Incidentally, you will also learn to roll your rrrr's over time (Saturday becomes Saturrrrday etc) - tis a time honoured Southland thing (I still haven't lost it on some words and it was nearly 20 years ago I left Southland) |

| 432090 | 2006-02-18 22:11:00 | I'm taking my main curtains with me. :-) I spent ages finding them so the new owners here get plain boring ones....I put them up before we advertised it so they are happy with them. Yep, bit of paint, fix the hole at the back and re-do the gardens. It will get raspberries, gooseberries, grape vine, vege gardens, herb gardens, carpet roses, wisteria and we will remove the messy looking plants. And add a couple of levels to the BBQ. Yes I know about the rrrr's. The door is actually Pink. Just as bad really. The pink will become dark olive green - the colour of the leaves on my Bay tree.... The stained glass just means with this one my best friend doesn't have to make me some - she makes leadlights... And of course, my PC letterbox goes up and my sign although it probably will only be read once a month... :D |

| 432091 | 2006-02-18 22:32:00 | Another odd language characteristic of Southland is when, for example (as in pctek's houses) the "walls need painting," or, another way to put it "the walls need to be painted", southlanders typically merge the two into a new grammatical construct by saying the "walls need painted." Otherwise, they can be perfectly nice people and seem like the rest of us.:D |

| 432094 | 2006-02-19 23:38:00 | You forgot to post the link ( . mcs . geek . nz/house . htm" target="_blank">www . mcs . geek . nz) to the new pics . I had to hunt down your other thread to find it . This one has got quite a bit of character - you could do a lot with it, hopefully in keeping with the original . Don't forget to post progress photos after you move in so we can see how things are coming along . |
