431937 2006-02-18 10:11:00 Hi
I was until this month connected to telecoms wireless service under the PROBE scheme which basically meant that everything was half price.

This meant that the install including the modem and antenna was round about 800$ from memory and 2g monthly download allowance at 256k for 70$/month.

I found the service to be rock solid and dependable and the speed was always
at the maximum stated.

431938 2006-02-18 19:46:00 Whats the Probe scheme?
I'm going to have to get wireless. Apparently while I am in the 'geen zone" they still have to come and check for certain and charge $475 regardless.

431939 2006-02-18 19:59:00 The service is usually good untill every man & his dog jumps onboard. Greven (91)

Doesn't include Southland...although its available there.

Satelite is an even worse price....Xtra seems to be the cheapest, not counting Woosh which A) Isn't available there yet B)Sucks.

IF you cant access PROBE then as I see it you are looking at 1500$ install and: oh i see they have halved their monthly charges from when I got connected

Have you seen Bordernets Prices ?

"Bordernet’s iSat one way broadband service was developed in response to the needs of our rural customers requiring a secure encrypted Broadband data connection as a clip-on to an existing dial up connection."
So up is dial up.
Vsat is not, but its more expensive. Anyway I don't care about the $1500, so long as I can get it.....dial up would suck after 2MBps....
