| 431764 | 2006-02-17 07:48:00 | HI Does anybody know how to clean a oily greasy keyboard? Been using the keyboard for a few months and now the surface of the keyboard is quite oily from the people's fingers. Water just doesn't seem to work. Anyone know of another liquid substance I can clean the keyboard with? |

| 431765 | 2006-02-17 07:55:00 | I use warm water and dish washing liquid. Give it a good soak and a bit of a scrub with a tooth brush. Then hang it on the clothes line for a couple of hours. Strangely it works and I haven't lost a keyboard yet. |

I usually just use those handwipe things, pre moistened and usually with enough grub fighting to do the job without being overdamp. Big design flaw on a Mac keyboard - white keys. Get very dirty, very quick. |

| 431769 | 2006-02-17 09:29:00 | I strip them down completely and remove all electronics, then give everything else a light scrubbing in warm water and dish washing liquid... never had a problem with this method, just make sure it's dry before you re-assemble, and watch for keys that have springs/metal bits underneath. And do the spacebar last so you can determine where the supports are... levering from the wrong place could snap it in half (mind you this has never happened to me but I can see it would be easy to do) But... just to get rid of surface grease a wipe with a cloth etc should work well. |

My keys get polished from over-use, but never dirty. What with washing before and after meals, plus the inevitable comfort stops, routine hygiene practices ensure that dirty fingers are never an issue. Cheers Billy 8-{) |
