432060 2006-02-25 03:30:00 Hi Person*. Re: And to be honest, i generally do use hand tools when accuracy is an issue Funny, that. As I've gotten older I find that power tools with the right jig or holding device give me a lot more accuracy.
And, Beetle, a Dremel used to be the beginner's powered jig saw - had one for years, great for making kids jig-saws and odd shapes. One of my sons still has it. Both of us went through years of making jig-saws and toys for our local kindies.

True, however, cutting up a bit of ply balance on some old speaker boxes with pencil lines and no guides as such, i'll take the hand saw anytime, or sometimes the jigsaw...

Turning a truckload of city rubbish into firewood for my country friend....
then i'm in the back yard with a skilly. Ripping out the ceiling so we can re-plumb, the skilly.

Note the later 2 jobs do not require a lot of accuracy. It's only replacing the ceiling that does that. We'll use a hand-saw when that happens

432062 2006-02-25 08:58:00 Whats a dremel??????

beetle

A small drill type tool for fine work, drilling grinding etc.
Think of a larger version of a dentists drill, or a smaller version of the tool they use on CSI to remove a section of the skull

432063 2006-02-26 00:29:00 It has a very high cutter speed: up to 35000 rpm . (It's used with small cutters and drills) .

Dremel is the traditional quality brand; it's expensive . Just a flexible shaft drive costs about twice as much as one of the Chinese copies with the flexible drive . The Dremel tool itself costs about three times that much .

A lovely tool though . I use mine with a tiny diamond wheel to cut between holes on Veroboard .
