2006-02-20 04:59:00 | Husband used to be. Fixed cars, built woodshed, laid pavers and built brick BBQ, installed fireplace and Kent. Gardened, repairs etc. Just not a builder, well aprt from woodsheds... He's getting a bit old and slow now but he will be resuming at least some of it.... I think men should be able to do at least some of that sort of thing. Not into the poncy Ponsonby type that can't do anything.Of course I'm good with my hands, but not only for the above kinda things ;)

2006-02-21 07:17:00 | I've given up on dogs anal glands, but I also do a bit of book repair as a collectors hobby. Here is a 1911 Chums Annual before (www.imagef1.net.nz) repair, here is the same book after (www.imagef1.net.nz) pulling apart and making up a new spine.

2006-02-21 07:43:00 | Nice work on the book Terry, but my eyes were inexorably drawn to the Marconi. What do you use that for, hobby or business? Cheers Billy 8-{) [Drool]

2006-02-21 08:31:00 | The Marconi is a valve standard signal generator, ex-airforce, bought from Alan Deverell of Casa Modular in Petone many years ago. Just hobbying. The instrument next to it is a home brew 'solid state' Q meter MkII, with a particularly nice high-Q variable capacitor in it, also from Casa, it gets its RF source from the Marconi. | Terry Porritt (14) | |
2006-02-21 08:56:00 | Before you get any further into this wireless foreign language, guys- That's a great hobby, Terry. You've made a lovely job of the book. I'm full of envy. Wish I could do work like that. Where/how did you learn?
