| 689531 | 2008-07-17 01:05:00 | What's better than this? Asus EN9800GX2 TOP/G/2DI/1G, GeForce 9800 GX2, 1024MB, $DDR3, PCIe-16, TV out, DVI, HDTV, SLI ready The GTX280, which has 1024MB memory (Yours effectively only has 512MB, as the memory has to be mirrored to each of the GPU's) Or the 4870x2 (1024MB, DDR5), which isn't released yet, but will be very soon. The 9 series was a dud, unfortunately. And the new cards by ATI and Nvidia are amazing. Which sucks, given I went out and bought a 9800GTX too. If I were to upgrade now, I'd 1.) have more than a few bucks to rub together after my new comp, and 2.) Go for 2 x 4850's in Crossfire, as that seems to be the powerhouse these days as far as $$$/Performance goes. (not that you care about $$$ it seems, so you could just get another 9800GX2...) |

Both CFX and SLI are working way better these days, in some cases they work better than having multi GPU configs (specifically 2 x 4870's trumps the 4870x2) The only reason I can think of is maybe a PSU that doesn't support it. And my point was mainly that his GFX card is a tiny weeny bit out of date, so if you're desperate to spend money bringing it up, then that would maybe be a way to go. I'd be more than more than happy with a 9800GX2 though. |

| 689535 | 2008-07-17 06:45:00 | You may get some speed out of a RAID configuration. But typically this won't give you that much more than you currently have. Benchmarks may notice it, but I wonder if you will. Why the reluctance over water? If you maintain your system then there's nothing to worry about really. |
