689307 2008-07-16 04:51:00 What firewall suits you is slightly personnel

For example ZA is fine for end users that know nothing about configuring a firewall and don't use P2P software much etc. Take all those ZA threat alerts with a grain of salt and don't expect your PC to run fast after installing it lol..

Outpost/Comodo are more configurable with a lower overhead, and tend to be a little more complicated but far better for apps that rely on port forwards.

If you do nothing other than brows, don't tend to visit any dodgy sites, have good up to date AV and anti spyware then the built in XP firewall can be ok (a lot of ifs).

689308 2008-07-16 04:59:00 i might just give comodo another go. ZA's 45 meg file size is a really bad joke. tweak'e (69)
689309 2008-07-16 05:58:00 just trying comodo at the moment.

its allready annoying the crap out of me. its letting every program through without asking. some of the basic things are tucked away which is a pain.

ok found where to change that, still its rather bad that it lets everything through by default :(

689310 2008-07-16 06:21:00 I'm using Comodo and sure it does ask a lot, but once configured, sweet as. lakewoodlady (103)

689313 2008-07-16 07:15:00 Gone back to ZA for 2 desktops comodo on laptop, on desktops comodo wasn't playing nicely. since laptop is kids and he plays on limewire occasionally kept him on comodo as it runs fine on there gary67 (56)
689314 2008-07-16 07:33:00 not on my computer it doesn't

had to change it to custom poilcy mode for it to ask if to let programs connect or not.

mind you i should complain to much as ZA does the same for common programs, which is something i do not like.

also no server settings. i had to make a rule to block svchost :( reminds me of the old tiny and kero days.

689315 2008-07-16 08:16:00 I appreciate all your comments. I will give Comodo a whirl (and report back if I get into a pickle!).

As always :thanks
