| 431228 | 2006-02-16 22:24:00 | I wouldn't say Wanganui was to small a market, The fault was (as I see it) concentrating on service and repair for home users, There is only so many jobs I can do in a week, Hell, Ive turned away 4 jobs this morning, had 2 people walk in with work needing to be done, and have 3 waiting to be picked up. If anything the last 4 weeks have been my busiest ever,which just compounded the problem, not enough profit at the end of the week. x amount or repairs a week only brings in x amount of dollars,and I need to draw wages, rent, services etc etc, the 2 sums just dont add up, which means I was relying on selling comps to top up the cash flow, But when building comps, taking phone calls, talking to walk in traffic, doing outcalls and the other billion tasks related to running a company/shop....Just spread myself too thin. If I done it again I would hit it with a team of people, One whose job was nothing but sourcing customers, someone to do outcalls and repairs (concentraing on bussinesses), and someone to man the showroom. I would also pick a better location and cram if full of showcase computers for the impluse buyer. But then I would need 30 grand to set it up, rather then the 6 grand it cost to launch.... Anyhow, No shortage of repair work, and I was selling comps to probally 80 percent of people that asked for a quote, Meh. |
